There used to be a homeless man in our locality, who would sit on the footpath across the main road. He was old and had no strength to take up a job. He had a granddaughter who was about 10 years old. I would often see the girl take care of her grandfather during the day and stay up all night to study.
The girl would collect plastic bottles as well as tin cans and sell them to make money. She never begged for money. She took care of her grandfather right until his last breath. Her strength, courage and determination did not let her give in to her circumstances. Today, she is on her way to become a doctor and care for people, just like she cared for her grandfather. She is an epic example of someone who displayed courage in the time of adversity.

Question 16.
Jacopo has grown up to become a hard working and successful social worker. He ¡s
asked to give a speech on the opening ceremony of an orphanage built by his NGO. Imagine yourself to be Jacopo and address the gathering.
Answer:
Ladies and Gentlemen! As I stand before you to speak at the opening ceremony of this orphanage, I recollect my own childhood. Child care is a very important part of the cycle of human growth. I realise this and hold this view very strongly as my brother, Nicola, and I, both have seen some difficult times in our childhood. We lost our father at a very young age; our home was destroyed due to the war and we had to work day and night to pay for our sister’s treatment for tuberculosis of the spine. We learnt many things about life during this tough phase and we learnt it the hard way.
My NGO has taken this initiative to fill the empty space in the lives of the abandoned children, by letting experts guide and protect them. Providing proper child care is not only essential but also beneficial for the future of our nation as these children are its future. I am glad to be associated with this noble initiative.
We must continue to promote such programmes.
Thank you.

The Two Gentlemen of Verona
“The Two Gentlemen of Verona’ ही कथा ओ.
