त्यानंतर खेळातील कौशल्य अधिक वृद्धिंगत करण्यासाठी (प्रशिक्षण घेण्यासाठी) ती पुलेला गोपीचंद यांच्या ॲकॅडमीमध्ये दाखल झाली. प्रशिक्षक गोपीचंद यांच्या मते ‘सिंधूचा दृष्टिकोन आणि कधीही हार न मानण्याची वृत्ती या तिच्यामधील सर्वोत्कृष्ट गोष्टी आहेत.’ तिच्या कारकिर्दीमधील पालकांच्या योगदानाविषयी विचारलेल्या प्रश्नाला उत्तर देताना सिंधू सांगते, की तिचे पालक राष्ट्रीय पातळीवरील स्पर्धांसाठी तिला तयार करण्याकरता तिच्या सोबत येऊन तिला मार्गदर्शन करतात. तिच्या सराव सत्रांदरम्यानच्या खेळाबाबत तिच्याशी चर्चा क्रतात. पालक आणि समुपदेशक म्हणून तिला त्यांची मदत होते.
जेव्हा ती एखादा सामना हरते तेव्हा एक आघाडीची खेळाडू म्हणून ती या परिस्थितीला मानसिकदृष्ट्या कशी सामोरी जाते? या प्रश्नाबाबत उत्तर देताना सिंधू म्हणते, की ‘प्रत्येकाने अधिकाधिक जोमाने सराव करावा आणि आपल्या चुकांमधून शिकत राहावे. ‘
‘अपयशामधून बाहेर पडण्यास काही काळ लागत असला तरीही, हार आणि जीत हा आयुष्याचा एक भाग आहे, हे प्रत्येकानेच समजून घेतले पाहिजे आणि नेहमीच त्यांचा खंबीरपणे सामना केला पाहिजे.
